Inspiration
We’ve compiled a list of some widely loved and successful Signal Boxes painted by community groups in the past. Your idea should be its own unique story or message linked to your organisation, but these previous projects can give you some insight into the ways in which the boxes can be painted.

Additional Artists:
Youth from CatholicCare Tasmania Multicultural Service Programs
Description:
Our passengers on the "All Aboard" bus represent some of the different communities in Hobart, all travelling to Diverse City - a city of differences, inclusiveness and respect.
The bus represents a common mode of transport where people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ages meet together on a shared journey.
What we love:
This box was created by an artist working with an organisation. The resulting artwork represents a shared message from the group, while also responding to the context of its location along a major bus route.
Thank you, Ray!
Organisation:
St Michael's Collegiate School - Prep
Additional Artists:
Mrs Kat Burke and Mrs Harriet Links (staff members)
Description:
This work is a tribute to Mr Ray Harrison, our tennis coach. Ray has worked at a number of schools across Hobart for decades and has literally taught thousands of students to play Tennis. Ray will retire at the end of this year and we wanted to decorate a signal box to show our gratitude.
What we love:
A simple concept that is relevant to the Signal Box location and the repeated motif meant that all of the group could participate.
Real and totally unreal character collections and T Rex
Organisation:
Parkside Foundation
Artists:
Michael & Alex
Description:
Line drawings and text in colour, RV, Plane, Cruise ship are around the TRex, which is the largest feature with its body spanning across the four sides.
The TRex is greeted by a dragon at its feet. Planes and cruise ships with windows and cartoon characters looking out. A smaller TRex is included at the tail.
What we love:
Strong, interesting imagery that is a real celebration of the artists who work with your group or organisation.
